Rohan’s mix of experience behind the desk and as a professional musician provides a great understanding of what it’s like to be on both sides of a session, and ensures his focus is on quality of work, attention to detail and the comfort, enjoyment and creative output of artists.
Rohan graduated from Victorian College of the Arts with a Bachelor of Music Performance (improvisation) in 2005. He spent many years as a member of Melbourne band Oh Mercy, touring locally and internationally, alongside his career in production, engineering and mastering. During 2013/14 Rohan worked in the US at Cloud City Sound in Portland, Oregon, as an engineer and producer with bands such as Pallbearer, Agalloch and many more.
Since returning to Melbourne in 2014 he has continued to work with local and international artists including Emma Donovan, Dune Rats, Olympia, Radio Free Alice, Ali Barter, Gold Class, Magic Dirt, Alexander Gow, Little Ugly Girls, Ferla, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, +F:rst Sunn+, Brendan Welch, My Disco, Kate Miller-Heidke, Tobias Hengeveld, Cambodian Space Project, Cold Irons Bound, Slow Dancer, Magnets, Bernard Fanning, James Hooker and Elliot Knapp.
During his career, Rohan has run multiple studios - The Woods (2014-2017), Four Hundred Acres (2017-2018) and Head Gap (2018-2025). He is an endorsee of Mapex drums and Soultone Cymbals.
Rohan has been involved in the creation of critically acclaimed and award winning releases, including albums recognised with Australian Music Prize nominations (Emma Donovan, Alexander Gow, Odette and Bleak Squad), Music Victoria Award nominations (James Sherlock Trio, Odette, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, Holy Holy, Dune Rats), ARIA Award nominations (Emma Donovan, Oh Mercy) and AIR Award nominations (Sam Anning, Emma Donovan, Radio Free Alice).
Emma Donovan’s Till My Song Is Done (recorded), won the AIR Award for Best Independent Blues and Roots Album or EP (2025), Koi Kingdom’s self-titled album (recorded and mixed) won the APRA AMCOS Art Music Award Work of the Year: Jazz (2025) and Little Ugly Girls’ self-titled release (recorded new material and mixed) won the Music Victoria Award for Best Rock/Punk Album (2018).
Rohan was nominated with collaborator Lachlan Carrick for Independent Mix, Studio or Mastering Engineer of the Year at the AIR Awards (2025).
Since loosing Head Gap Recording Studio to fire in late 2024, Rohan has been working in multiple Melbourne Recording Studios, including Newmarket Recording Studios in North Melbourne, Sing Sing Recording Studio and Soundpark Recording in Northcote, Rolling Stock Recording Rooms in Collingwood and Sydney Road Studios in Brunswick.
